Chris' Bungalow in Oakdale |
Shawna decided it was time to see Chris and the kids so we went out to Oakdale to visit them for a weekend. Chris spends every summer there in her bungalow near the beach. Shawna was in Hartford the week prior so it was an easy drive down there (took about 3.5 hours) and Keith had to be in Boston the week after so he flew in to LGA.

Chris Doing the ALS Bucket Challenge |
Shawna arrived on Thursday evening right after the kids had been put to bed. So, she stayed up chatting with Chris and had a few glasses of wine. Although Chris had to work for part of the day of the Friday, Shawna took the day off as she had a few days to burn by the end of the year. Shawna went for a run and then stopped by Chris' office in camp. After showering, they went to lunch and brought Nate along. We had a yummy salad at
Five Points Cafe. We walked around Sayville a little bit and stopped in to buy a gift for the babysitter. Chris returned to work while Shawna stayed to get a pedicure. She met Chris back at the bungalow and we had happy hour out on the lawn. Chris' friend Lisa came by with her son and we had a few drinks and played with the kids in the yard. Chris, Lisa and Shawna then went for seafood dinner at
The Cull House. After dinner, we had a few more drinks at Chris' house while waiting for Keith to arrive. Keith got in around 11:30 and so we had one more drink with him and then went to sleep.

Nate and Edie - Pretending to be in a Boat! |
On Saturday, we relaxed in the morning, playing with the kids. Keith got us coffee and bagels from a nearby bagel shop. We then had mussels and lobster rolls for lunch at a place in Sayville with all outdoor seating. In the afternoon, we took a gentle boat ride seeing some of the nice homes along the water. After napping back at Chris' house, we ordered in Thai food for dinner and then met up with Eddie and a few other friends and took Eddie's boat over to Fire Island for an evening at
Cherry's, which is a gay dance club. Chris had packed us a cooler for the boat so we had a few drinks on the way over. Keith was surprised at how built up Fire Island was - he was expecting a shack on the beach with a fire on the beach. It actually was a real bar with a dance floor. We stayed there until after midnight, chatting and people watching.

Keith and Chris at Cherry's |
Sunday was a very lazy day. We slept in until mid-morning. Keith got us coffee and breakfast sandwiches and we chilled out at Chris' house with the kids. After walking to the park to play with the kids for a little while, we then left and drove to Laguardia. Shawna flew home to Denver while Keith flew to Boston.

Shawna, Chris, Nate and Edie |
It was a great time catching up and seeing Chris' two cuties - Nate and Edie. We were bummed that Steve could not be there but promised to make a trip out to the Keys to see their new house once the pool is built.
