Texas - April 2017

Dodds Family at Knife for Dick's 75th Bday
It was Keith's Dad's 75th birthday so we went to Texas for the weekend to celebrate with the family.  Keith was in Las Vegas the week before so flew to Dallas on the Friday afternoon while Shawna arrived later in the evening from Phoenix.

Since Keith was in early, he had dinner with his parents (homemade rack of lamb!) and then drove to pick up Shawna.  On Saturday, we were able to start the day with a walk around White Rock Lake - the weather forecast had shown showers but they did not hit until later in the afternoon.  We had a couple of granola bars for lunch since we were to have a big diner at Flora Street CafĂ© that evening.   After getting home and showering we were about ready to go when Keith got a call - Flora Street saying that the hood was down and the restaurant was closed that night.  Keith thought it was a poor job of an April Fools joke - so he called Graham and Margaret to check.  But...alas it was not a bad joke, so we needed to get a new reservation at the last minute.  The good news is that with Graham's connections we were able to get into Knife - in the location of Central 214.  So we picked up Margaret via Uber and got to Dallas in time for the 7pm reservation.  They had got us a community high-top table in the bar - not the most optimal seating or noise level, but at least we had a delicious dinner rather than Taco Bell as a backup!

On Sunday, Margaret brought the kids over while she worked out, so we took them to Jump Street for some trampoline work while it was pouring outside.  It was then back to the house for lunch and some final planning for the Scotland trip this summer.  The last stop was an hour at Peter and Jen's - we were able to see them and Michael - Jordan was at a friends' house studying.  Then a flight home to Phoenix to start the next week!
